Using built-in GPS, we reduce the burden on the processor and battery in the tablet or smart phone that is running the ELD app.
In tandem with internal flash memory storage, built-in GPS also ensures that, per ELD rules, hours of service events are captured even if the tablet or smart phone is not present in the vehicle.
At the same time, our hardware distinguishes itself as being more economical and easier to manage than similarly feature-rich cellular-based ELD hardware. Using the tablet or smart phone hosting the ELD app as the cellular device, instead of having an internal cellular modem in the Pacific Track ELD hardware, offers multiple benefits, including a reduction in initial hardware cost and ongoing operating costs, as well as decreased technical risk and complexity, and reduced business risk (obsolescence).

Our SDKs provide HOS events, which has two big benefits:
- Integrators do not have to understand low level communication
- Since vehicle data is processed right in the ELD device, there is less burden on the processor and battery on the tablet or smart phone that hosts the ELD application
Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) is extremely reliable and requires no user interaction. Bluetooth LE (or “BLE”) is not the same type of “classic” Bluetooth that is used for car audio and with which you may have experienced dropped communication or other problems. With BLE, you do NOT do pairing in your phone’s or tablet’s settings. Instead, the connection is established right inside the HOS app.

We developed our own protocol stacks, so if there’s any implementation issue, we fix it ourselves on your schedule rather than relying on a third-party to do it on their schedule.
